Welcome to WWE SummerSlam 2016 results coverage. This is the second part of Sunday night’s match-by-match results and highlights. Apollo Crews vs. The Miz – Intercontinental Championship
Late in this bout, Crews hit a standing moonsault for a two count. Miz was able to kick Crews in the knee and then headed out of the ring. Crews went after him and rolled Miz back in. Maryse caused a distraction and Miz whipped Crews face first into the ring post. Back in the ring, Miz hits Skullcrushing Finale for the victory.
Winner: The Miz won via pinfall to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
John Cena vs. AJ Styles
The match ran over 23 minutes. Towards the end Cena was finally able to hit an Attitude Adjustment. Surprisingly, Styles kicked out at the last second, shocking Cena. Styles struggled as he got back to his feet. Cena put up Styles for another attempt at an AA but Styles countered it hitting the Styles Clash. He rolled to the apron from there and hit a Phenomenal Forearm to get the big pinfall on Cena.
Winner: AJ Styles won via pinfall over John Cena.
Gallows & Anderson vs. New Day – WWE Tag Titles
Jon Stewart served as the honorary third member of New Day. Stewart got the ring and had the crowd help him do Big E’s part to introduce the tag champs. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston made their entrance to the ring. Woods blasted his trombone a bit from the ring corner before Gallows and Anderson made their entrance.
Late in the match, both members of New Day were down. Stewart got in at one point after a double team move to distract Gallows and Anderson. Moments later, they grabbed him by both legs as he tried to escape the ring. Gallows and Anderson set up to drag Stewart crotch-first to the ringpost. Big E’s music hit and he rushed down the ramp to fight Gallows and Anderson, saving Stewart. The ref called for the bell. Post-match, Big E opened one of the jars that the doctors had his balls in and took a drink before spitting the liquid into the air. New Day and Stewart all danced to celebrate.
Winners: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson won due to disqualification over New Day when Big E got involved.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose – WWE World Heavyweight Championship
The match ran for 15 minutes. Towards the end, Ziggler hit a Superkick on Ambrose on the outside. He rolled him into the ring and got a near fall. Ambrose made a comeback and hit Dirty Deeds but Ziggler countered with a Zig Zag for another near fall. Ambrose blocked a Superkick attempt and Ziggler slapped him. Ambrose came back with his bounce back clothesline from the ropes. The two fought back and forth some more. Dolph went for the Facebuster but Ambrose landed on his feet and then hit Dirty Deeds for the win.
Winner: Dean Ambrose won via pinfall over Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Carmella, Naomi & Becky Lynch vs. Natalya, Alexa Bliss & ???
Naomi, Carmella and Becky made their entrances followed by Natalya and Alexa Bliss. They waited for their partner. Eva Marie’s entrance came on and her announcer talked about her then said she was suffering from physical exhaustion and was recuperating in the islands. For their partner, Nikki Bella’s music hit and she made her anticipated return to the ring.
Towards the finish, all of the participants got involved a bit. Carmella came in for a big spot where she did her running move and jumped on Nikki in the corner. Carmella had a pinfall but Alexa and Nattie saved Nikki. Becky and Naomi cleared them. Moments later, Nikki got the upperhand on Carmella and hoisted her up for a Rack Attack to collect the big win.
Winners: Nikki Bella, Natalya & Alexa Bliss defeated Carmella, Naomi and Becky Lynch via pinfall.
