WWE SummerSlam 2016 results coverage (Part 1)

Welcome to WWE SummerSlam 2016 results coverage via the Ringside Results website. Sunday’s pay-per-view takes place at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York. It comes on the heels of an exciting NXT Takeover Brooklyn II show where Shinsuke Nakamura became the new NXT champion. On Sunday night, there will be at least one new champion. The WWE Universal Championship will be decided between Finn Balor and Seth Rollins, with the brand new title belonging exclusively to WWE Raw. Below is the first part of the pay-per-view results including pre-show and more for WWE SummerSlam 2016!

There will be a special WWE SummerSlam pre-show known as the “Kickoff Show” prior to the main pay-per-view. This includes at least one, maybe two free matches on the show. It also usually features the pre-show panel of Renee Young, Lita, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Booker T.

American Alpha, The Usos & The Hype Bros vs The Vaudevillians, the Ascension and Breezedango

Late in the match, multiple wrestlers hit their big moves. The Usos ended up diving out onto a group of guys on the outside to take them down. American Alpha hit a double team finisher on Gotch and then one of the Usos hit the top rope splash on Gotch for the pinfall win. Post-match, there appeared to be some tension between American Alpha and The Usos.

Winners: American Alpha, The Usos & The Hype Bros defeated The Vaudevillians, the Ascension and Breezedango via pinfall.

Baron Corbin showed up at the panel desk. He said he was supposed to go against Kalisto tonight but that little coward got a doctor to excuse him. He said he’s here to make money and Kalisto cost him that. He said he hopes Kalisto is comfortable with his wife on the couch because he’s going to put him there permanently.

Sami Zayn & Neville vs. The Dudley Boyz

Late in this one, Zayn performed a Blue Thunder Bomb on D-Von and had the pin but Bubba rushed in for the breakup. Neville later broke up Bubba’s cover on Zayn. Neville managed to avoid the 3D. Bubba accidentally hit a clothesline on D-Von. Zayn hit a Helluva Kick on Bubba and then Neville connected on the Red Arrow for the win.

Winners: Sami Zayn & Neville defeated The Dudley Boyz via pinfall.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus – Best of 7 Series Match 1

The match ran over 14 minutes total. Late in the contest, Cesaro hit the Cesaro Swing. He followed with a Sharpshooter, but Sheamus managed to get to the ropes and broke things up. Sheamus tried a Brogue Kick but Cesaro avoided that. He went for another Sharpshooter, but Sheamus got a thumb to the eye. From there, he ran Cesaro into the ringpost and finally got the Brogue Kick for the first match win in the series.

Winner: Sheamus won via pinfall over Cesaro to win the first match of the Best of Seven Series.

SummerSlam 2016 PPV Results:

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho

For a good part of the match, Owens and Jericho isolated Enzo, taunting him, the crowd and Cass. Enzo fought back later and knocked both guys off the apron. He managed to kick Owens on the outside and tried to dive over to Cass but Jericho cut it off. Owens hit a huge FrogSplash moments later for a very close near fall. Eventually, Amore was able to break free of Owens and got to Cass as Jericho also tagged in. Class took down the heels and powerslammed Jericho before an Empire Elbow.

Enzo hit a huge move off the corner on Jericho aka the GDT. Owens came in to break it up. Moments later, Owens and Jericho teamed up with Owens launching up Enzo Pop-up Powerbomb style so Jericho could hit the Codebreaker.

Winners: Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens won via pinfall over Enzo Amore & Big Cass.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were walking when Mick Foley was there. He said it was a great show so far and then talked up how Raw was going to top Smackdown. Jon Stewart showed up next with his son and started asking Mick how he could work with someone like Stephanie. She showed up behind him and asked what he was talking about. Stewart seemed to cower a bit but then Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods showed up. They walked off with Stewart and his son to get ready for their match.

Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks – WWE Women’s Championship

Late in the match, Sasha managed to counter a Charlotte move and got the Bank Statement. However, Charlotte was ready and managed to roll Sasha over pinning both shoulders to the mat. Post-match, Sasha required help backstage as if she was hurt. Charlotte is your brand new WWE Women’s Champion.

Winner: Charlotte won via pinfall over Sasha Banks to become new WWE Women’s Champion.

As each of the matches finish, the results above will be updated with the winners and how the matches were won. It should be a huge night for the WWE with the latest SummerSlam pay-per-view, as it will feature both Raw and SmackDown talents vying for titles and the spotlight.
