Welcome to the WWE SmackDown results for Tuesday, December 13, 2016. The latest episode took place in Washington, DC. Among the superstars appearing on the latest episode were The Miz, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Natalya, Carmella, and Nikki Bella. Below are all of the latest WWE Smackdown results for Tuesday night’s show.
The opening segment featured The Miz and Maryse with Miz hosting MizTV. AJ Styles was his guest. He joked about how AJ must be having trouble sleeping knowing he will have to defend the title against James Ellsworth. Styles laughed it up and then joked around with Miz a bit. Styles said he’s now defeated John Cena and Dean Ambrose so there’s nobody left on his level. He said it several times and then Miz told him he forgot about him. He said he’s not on AJ’s level he’s above it. He said maybe it’s time he made the World title legendary too. Styles stood up and moved his chair aside and Miz did also. Dean Ambrose’s music hit and he came to the ring upset. Both guys and Maryse fled the ring.
Before Ambrose had a chance to say anything, Dolph Ziggler’s music hit and he was down to the ring. He accused them of being paper champions who have to cheat to win. Ziggler baited Miz into the ring and then attacked him, but Miz got the upper hand and hit Skull Crushing Finale. Ambrose kicked Miz in the gut and hit Dirty Deeds. Styles wanted no part and began to leave the ringside area up the ramp. The Wyatt Family sounder went off and the lights went out. When they came back on, Harper was in the ring with Ambrose and hit his spinning clothesline to level Dean. Styles watched from the ramp as Harper pointed at him.
Backstage, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were talking when AJ Styles came walking up to them. He demanded protection after what just happened in the ring. Bryan and Shane said they’re going to have Luke Harper, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz in a Fatal Fourway match. The winner gets a shot at AJ for the title on the final Smackdown of the Year December 27th. Styles complained it was a stupid idea and stormed off.
Carmella defeated Natalya via pinfall. Nikki Bella was on guest commentary. Natalya was introduced first and came to the ring. She got on the mic and pleaded with Nikki to believe her that she didn’t attack her and Carmella was a liar. Carmella’s music hit and she came down to start the match. During the match, Carmella rolled to the outside. Nattie hit a baseball slide dropkick to send her to the floor. Natalya went out after her and then walked over to try to tell Nikki it wasn’t her. Carmella came over to attack and Natalya pushed Nikki away to fight Carmella. She tossed Carmella back in the ring but when Natalya got back in she was distracted and got rolled up for the pin. Post-match, Carmella backed up the ramp. Nikki stared at her a bit as she walked around the ring and up the ramp.
They announced that John Cena returns in two weeks from now to SmackDown.
Backstage, comedian Gabriele Iglesias was walking down the hall and ran into Apollo Crews. He began flexing in front of him. Apollo was asking what’s going on and he said he thought he was looking in the mirror. Maryse came walking up with Miz and told them “quiet on the set.” Miz mocked the Iglesias’s shirt and they got into a back and forth banter. Miz told them he had to go prepare for a match.
The Hype Bros. won a Battle Royal to become new No. 1 contenders for the tag team titles. In the match, all of the SmackDown tag teams were represented. Both members of a team would have to be eliminated for the team to be gone. It came down to one member of each of the teams. At one point, Heath Slater flew at one of his opponents but accidentally knocked Rhyno off the apron causing a moment. Later on, Slater was also eliminated. In one spot, Jason Jordan eliminated the second member of The Vaudevillains, but then got eliminated moments later. It was down to one member of The Ascension, Tyeler Breeze, and Zack Ryder. Ryder almost got tossed out but managed to throw Breeze onto the apron. Breeze stayed on the apron right behind Ryder. One of The Acenscion charged at Ryder but he moved away and Breeze got knocked to the floor. Ryder hit the Rough Ryder and eventually used a Hurracanrana to toss out the member of Ascension for the win. MoJo Rawley ran down to celebrate with Ryder.
Alexa Bliss came to the ring to face an amateur opponent. She laughed about it on the mic saying she doesn’t do “charity cases” like Becky Lynch. Bliss walked up to the opponent and punched her then knocked her out of the ring. Bliss went to talk on the mic but Becky Lynch’s music hit and she came down the ramp. Becky said last time she tried to have a rematch against Bliss she wasn’t in her ring gear, but tonight they both are. She got in the ring and suggested they have that match right now. Alexa seemed to tease it but then said “not tonight.” She started up the ramp until Shane McMahon’s music hit. He came down the ramp and riled up the crowd, then told Alexa that Becky will get her rematch right now. He told the timekeeper to ring the bell.
Becky Lynch defeated Alexa Bliss via countout. Becky had control through most of the match. At one point, Bliss appeared to tweak her knee and was hobbling outside the ring. With Becky still inside, the ref counted Bliss out as she stumbled around the ringside towards the ramp. Becky went out and got her to attack. She threw Alexa back in the ring for more, but Bliss came back immediately showing no signs of a bad knee. Becky got the upper hand again, but Alexa escaped from the ring. The ref brought her the championship belt and Alexa limped back up the ramp.
Fatal Fourway Match to Determine No. 1 Contender for AJ Styles’ World Heavyweight title. Styles was on guest commentary. Competing in the match were The Miz, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Luke Harper. The winner gets a title shot at AJ Styles in two weeks on Smackdown. Maryse was ringside. Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton did not accompany Harper to the ring. At one spot, Miz was on the outside recovering. In the ring, Ziggler and Ambrose blasted Harper with a move, but then both fell to the mat after a move. Miz saw from the outside and slid into the ring, attempting to pin Ziggler, who kicked out. He tried to pin Harper, who kicked out. When Miz went over to Ambrose, Dean rolled him into a small package pin to eliminated him first. The Miz elimited by Dean Ambrose

Later, Dolph Ziggler managed to deliver a Superkick to Luke Harper. Dean Ambrose came off the corner and hit Dirty Deeds before securing a pinfall to eliminate Harper second.

It came down to Ziggler vs. Ambrose. At one spot early, Ambrose knocked Ziggler into the post hard, and Ziggler looked down and out. Ambrose got up on the corner but Ziggler jumped up to deliver a big Facebuster off the corner. Both guys were down on the mat for a bit. The Miz returned to the ringside area. Ziggler saw him and went to the outside to go after him. Ambrose dove out of the ring to take Miz down and then Ziggler blasted him with a Superkick. Ambrose grabbed Ziggler and ran him into the ring post. He tossed him back into the ring. Ambrose went to get back into the ring but Miz grabbed Ambrose’s leg. Dean kicked him away but as he got in the ring, Ziggler hit a Superkick and collected the winning pinfall.
Dolph Ziggler won via pinfall over Dean Ambrose to become new No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight title. Ziggler will face Styles on the December 27th episode of WWE SmackDown.
