Welcome to the WWE SmackDown results for the December 6, 2016 episode. This week’s program follows up the latest TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs results and features two championship matches on the card. In one match Heath Slater and Rhyno take on The Wyatt Family in a rematch for the tag team titles. In the other, James Ellsworth gets his WWE World Heavyweight title shot against AJ Styles. In addition, The Miz, Dean Ambrose, Alexa Bliss, and other superstars are scheduled for the latest episode. The latest WWE SmackDown results are listed below.
The show started AJ Styles coming to the ring to brag about his win at TLC over Dean Ambrose. He said the only problem with the win was that he hurt his ankle and isn’t medically cleared to face James Ellsworth tonight. Ellsworth came to the ring and got in a fighting stance. Styles mocked him and Ellsworth accused him of trying to duck him. He said he’ll beat him for a fourth time and become new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Dean Ambrose’s music hit and he came to the ring to hit Dirty Deeds on Ellsworth before leaving.
Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt defeated Health Slater & Rhyno via pinfall to retain the tag team titles. Late in the match, Wyatt distracted Slater and he got hit by a powerslam from Orton. Wyatt yanked Rhyno to the outside and tagged himself in. Slater delivered a right hand to Wyatt, who came back with a lariat. He had Slater set up for Sister Abigail, but instead tagged in Orton and shoved Slater to him for an RKO.
Carmella came to the ring for an announced match against Natalya. She got on the mic beforehand and talked about how Natalya pulled a “Tony Harding” on Nikki by attacking her at Survivor Series. She said it’s because Nattie doesn’t like her spotlight being stolen on “Total Divas” and she doesn’t like being second best. Natalya came out for the match, but got in the ring and pounced on Carmella to brawl with her. Carmella eventually got out of the ring and rushed up the ramp backstage with Natalya chasing her. The camera finally caught up backstage as Natalya was storming down a hallway. She came face to face with Nikki Bella. After a few seconds, she told Nikki she can’t believe what Carmella is saying. Nikki remained speechless then turned and walked off.
The Hype Bros defeated The Ascension via pinfall. Ryder and Mojo won in about three minutes. The close saw Mojo hit a full nelson slam on Viktor. Konnor rushed in to break up a pinfall attempt. Ryder came in to clear out Konnor and then tagged in. Mojo and Ryder teamed up for Hype Ryder on Viktor for the win.
The Miz TV featured Miz bringing Dean Ambrose on the show. He brought up how angry Dean must be at Ellsworth since he hit a Dirty Deeds on him earlier. Miz kept taunting Ambrose, saying he gave his best at TLC this past week but it wasn’t enough. He said he still had an award for him. Miz presented the first-ever Participation Award for Ambrose. He had Maryse holding a plaque that commended Ambrose for a good effort. The fans chanted “You Deserve It.” Ambrose got heated and got in Miz’s face ready to shove the award down his throat. Daniel Bryan’s music hit and he came out on stage. He suggested that Ambrose should be able to get his hands on Miz in a match and then decided it should be for the Intercontinental title. Miz was furious as Ambrose smirked.
Baron Corbin defeated Kalisto via pinfall. Kalisto used his quickness early, but eventually, Corbin’s power overcame him. In the end, he hit End of Days to lay out Kalisto for the win.
Chad Gable defeated Tyler Breeze via pinfall.
Alexa Bliss Championship Celebration – Alexa Bliss’ music hit. She came to the ring in non-wrestling attire with the championship belt around her waist. Once inside the ring she got on the corner to hoist her championship belt up in celebration as fireworks shot off from up near the stage. She talked in the ring for a bit but fans started to chant “We want Becky.” She said she heard that word Becky called her last week that rhymes with “witch.” Bliss said “well this little bitch is now running the whole SmackDown women’s division.” Becky’s music hit and she came to the ring to interrupt. She and Bliss had some verbal sparring before Becky said she wants her rematch now. Bliss teased she would do it as she took off her jacket and looked ready to go. As Becky lunged for her, Bliss rolled out of the ring and grabbed her belt and jacket to leave up the ramp.
The Miz defeated Dean Ambrose via pinfall to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Late in the match, things were going back and forth. At one point, Ambrose gained control and hit his bounce back clothesline from the ropes. He slowly got onto the apron and then onto the corner for a move. Maryse came over as the ref was distracted and shoved Ambrose down from the corner.
Moments later, James Ellsworth came down the ramp. He immediately went over to Maryse and yelled at her for interfering, then hopped on the apron to try to tell the ref. The ref told Ellsworth to get down, causing a distraction as Ambrose had a small package pinfall on Miz. The ref saw and went for the count but Miz kicked out. Ambrose was irked when he turned and saw Ellsworth on the apron. He stood up and slowly walked towards Ellsworth, but Miz snuck up behind him and put him down with Skullcrushing Finale for the win.
Post-match, Ellsworth was upset that he caused a loss for Ambrose and rushed off up the ramp. In the ring, Ambrose clutched his knee on the mat. Meanwhile, Miz and Maryse celebrated on the ramp as SmackDown went off the air.
