“Ms. Money in the Bank” Carmella came to the ring with James Ellsworth. She talked up how she doesn’t feel bad about how she won the briefcase and it’s now hers, putting the champion on notice. Carmella talked about internet trolls complaining about how she won and said “who cares?” She talked about how Kane helped Seth Rollins win MITB and Bray Wyatt prevented Roman Reigns from winning it one year. Carmella said she earned the contract and she knows that later on Daniel Bryan will make the important decision to re-enforce the decision that she is “Ms. Money in the Bank” 2017.
Big E defeated Jimmy Uso via pinfall. The New Day made an entrance and talked about how the match went down at MITB with Usos walking off to get counted out. Woods told the Usos to come step into their playpen. In the match, Big E gained control late and hit the Big Ending for the win.
There was a backstage segment with Naomi talking about how she’s ready for whenever Carmella tries to cash in her briefcase on her. Lana interrupted the interview and said she wants a rematch because Carmella and Ellsworth interrupted their match on Sunday. Naomi laughed about it but then told her she’s a fighting champ so they’ll have the match on next week’s show.
They had a pre-recorded interview Tom Phillips did with Randy Orton. “The Viper” talked about how he saw red when The Singh Brothers went after his father on Sunday. He said he was caught up in that. He talked about playing the numbers game himself before with Evolution and The Authority. Orton said things are far from over and he’s going to hurt Mahal. He said Jinder made a mistake and “there’s no turning back.”
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Dolph Ziggler via pinfall. The match lasted almost 17 minutes with the two competitors trading moves and near pinfalls.Late in the match, Ziggler hit a ZigZag but Nakamura kicked out of the pin. Ziggler put on a sleeper but Nakamura used a headbutt to break free. Shinsuke was able to connect with a kick to the back of Ziggler’s head and then followed with the Kinshasa for the win.
Kevin Owens defeated Chad Gable via pinfall to retain the U.S. Championship. Owens arrived to the ring to say he was targetted by the other competitors in the MITB match because they knew he was the biggest threat, so they took him out. He said he’s still US Champion though. AJ Styles came out to the open challenge but Owens said it was only for local competitors from Dayton, Ohio. Chad Gable came to the ring surprising Owens and Styles. He told Owens he just moved to Dayton today. AJ said on the mic then the match is official and announced it. The match started and Gable quickly took control. Later, Owens managed to gain the advantage and was able to pin Gable to leave with his title.
There was a backstage segment with Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley mentioning to Daniel Bryan they’d become No. 1 contenders for the tag titles a while back. Bryan told them he understood their issue and said he’d give them another opportunity to earn that next week if they can defeat The Usos.
Daniel Bryan came to the ring and called out the women’s MITB ladder match participants. He said there were no rules about how the match could be won except that it was the first woman to get her hands on the briefcase, who was Carmella. However, Bryan said in fairness he wasn’t going to have this historic match ended by James Ellsworth interfering. Bryan announced they’ll have the match again on next week’s SmackDown and took the case away from Ellsworth/Carmella. A brawl broke out with Becky and Charlotte clearing out Nattie and Tamina, then Becky put the DisarmHer on Carmella for a bit.
Jinder Mahal defeated Luke Harper via pinfall in a non-title match. The Singh Brothers were roaming at ringside. Harper had control for a bit but late in the match Baron Corbin’s music hit and he came down with the MITB briefcase. Jinder was distracted briefly but ultimate was able to turn the tables and hit his finisher on Harper for the pin. Randy Orton’s music hit post-match and he came out. The Singh Brothers went after him on the ramp and Orton threw them aside. He got in the ring to take down Jinder for a bit. The show closed after Jinder escaped into the crowd and Randy dropped The Singh Brothers in the ring with RKOs.
