Welcome to the quick WWE SmackDown results for the Tuesday, May 9th, 2017 episode. The latest installment of the show was held at the O2 Arena from London, England. This particular episode was taped earlier in the day (United States time) and show during its regular 8 p.m. Eastern Time slot on the USA Network. Below are all of the latest match by match results for the WWE SmackDown from London, England on Tuesday.
The opening segment featured Randy Orton coming out to cut a promo. It ended up that Jinder Mahal, Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, and Sami Zayn also showed up. Owens showed up saying he was going to get rid of Styles at Backlash like he did to Jericho last week on SmackDown. Corbin was out but Zayn attacked him from behind. In the ring, Orton tried to get a draping DDT on Jinder but the Singh Brothers intervened. All of the early fighting caused a six-man tag match to be set up for later on.
Natalya defeated Mickie James via pinfall. Tamina climbed onto the apron at one point as Becky was setting up for a move. Naomi rushed over and shoved Tamina. Charlotte grabbed Naomi from behind to hold her back. That allowed Nattie to pull a distracted Becky Lynch off the ropes and get a pinfall.
Later backstage, a match was set up for Backlash. It will be Carmella, Natalya, and Tamina against Charlotte, Becky, and WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi.
Luke Harper defeated Erick Rowan via pinfall. At one point in the match, Rowan grabbed the sheep mask and was going to use it against Harper. The referee took it away, but Rowan poked Harper in the eye as the ref wasn’t looking. From there, Rowan hit a slam on Harper and pinned him.
Dolph Ziggler came to the ring and cut a promo on the fans calling them hypocrites for supporting a guy like Shinsuke and not Dolph who has suffered for his art for eight years now. He said the fans never cared about him, but he’s going to show them. He called out Nakamura and the two nearly had a match as Shinsuke challenged Dolph right there. A referee was ready in the ring, but Dolph said “Nope, we’ll do this when I say.” He vowed to show everyone at Backlash what a fraud Nakamura is. He threw his jacket in Shinsuke’s face and tried to attack but Shinsuke got the upper hand. Dolph eventually retreated to ringside.
Breezeango defeated The Ascension via pinfall. The match lasted under 3 minutes. The close saw Breeze take out Konnor with a kick and Fandango hit his top rope leg drop onto Viktor for the pinfall. Post-match, The Usos came out to cut a promo about how they were going to beat down and slap around Breezeango in 12 days at the PPV.
Jinder Mahal, Baron Corbin & Kevin Owens defeated the team of Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, and AJ Styles via pinfall. Jinder got the winning pinfall on WWE World Champion Randy Orton. Late in the match, there were a bunch of finishers hit by various competitors. Orton was able to hit an RKO on Kevin Owens, but right after that, Jinder grabbed Orton from behind and hit him with the Cobra Clutch Slam for the pinfall win.
