Also on the show, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt attempt to win back the WWE SmackDown tag team titles from American Alpha. Here’s the latest match-by-match results and highlights for Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown.
The opening segment was the Ambrose Asylum. New Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose announced he is the first champion to enter the Royal Rumble. The Miz was his guest on the show and came to the ring with Maryse. Miz also announced he’ll be in the Rumble. He accused Ambrose of stealing his title last week by coercing the referee to continue the match even though it should have been stopped due to outside interference. He said Ambrose should hand him the title back.
Ambrose said he has something that belongs to Miz, and pulled out the framed participating award that Miz gave him before. Miz tried to attack Ambrose and threw punches at him. Maryse went for a slap but accidentally hit Ambrose. From there, Dean hit Miz with Dirty Deeds and then gave the participation award to Maryse before leaving the ring.
Nikki Bella was shown walking backstage ahead of a match against Natalya for the show. All of a sudden, Nattie rushed in and attacked her. Natalya threw Nikki into the wall and Nikki ended up clutching her knee as if hurt.

Kalisto managed to use the ropes to get up, but Ziggler blasted him again with the chair.

He hit a German suplex on Orton for a near fall but Bray broke things up. Gable hit a top rope clothesline and Orton and covered for another near fall. Moments later, Orton had control and was going for his finisher but Harper started to argue with the ref. The distraction hurt the Wyatts as Gable rolled up Orton for the win. Post-match, Alpha celebrated before leaving for backstage. Orton seemed upset and talked trash to Harper but Bray got between them. Orton went to get around Bray and Harper kicked at Orton but hit Wyatt instead. Both Orton and Harper stopped and looked at Bray. Wyatt got between them and then got in Orton’s face. Harper yelled at Orton to “do something,” but Wyatt got in Harper’s face next. Eventually Wyatt left the ring, followed by Harper. Orton stayed in the ring.
Backstage, Daniel Bryan and Becky Lynch were watching footage of La Luchadora. Bryan wondered if it might be Eva Marie in the costume and Becky said of course not. Alexa Bliss came in and said she posed as La Luchadora last week to try to find out who it is. Bryan said he doesn’t know who Luchadora is but that Alexa tapped out to Becky while posing as her. He said next week Alexa must defend her title against Becky and to keep Luchadora out of it, it’ll be a cage match.
