WWE Roadblock 2016 Results Coverage (Updated)

Welcome to WWE Roadblock 2016 results coverage. On this page are the latest updated results from the pay-per-view being held at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Among the big matches on the Raw exclusive pay-per-view card are Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks for the Women’s title and Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. Below are all the match-by-match results and recaps for the Roadblock 2016 event.

wwe superstar roman reignsRusev defeated Big Cass via count out. On the outside, Lana caused a distraction while Cass was out of the ring. Enzo went over to yell at Lana as she faked a leg injury. Rusev rushed over and knocked down Enzo from behind. Came stormed around the ring to help and Rusev rolled back in the ring. Just as Cass realized it, the ref’s count hit 10, so he was counted out.

Sheamus & Cesaro defeated The New Day to become new WWE Tag Team champions. Late in the match, Kofi was battling Sheamus. It looked like Cesaro made a tag in to Sheamus, but it was a fake out. He got into the ring and Kofi did a small package rollup on him. Sheamus was still legal and came over to roll up Kofi for the victory. That ended New Day’s historic reign and moved the belts to Sheamus and Cesaro. Post-match, a dejected Xavier Woods grabbed the belts and clutched them as he rolled into the ring to mourn with Big E and Kofi. After several moments, Cesaro went over and hugged the New Day. Sheamus saw it and went over to grab both belts. He hoisted them up as he posed on the ring corner. Cesaro left the ring and went into the audience to celebrate with the Cesaro Section.

Sami Zayn lasted against Braun Strowman in 10-minute time limit match. With about 3:30 minutes remaining, Raw GM Mick Foley came down the ramp carrying a white towel. Strowman tossed Zayn out of the ring in front of Foley. Strowman got out of the ring and barked at Foley to throw the towel in. He kept yelling and Foley was about to do it. Zayn used Foley’s pants leg to pull himself up a bit and told Foley no. He eventually got up and pulled the towel from Mick’s hands and threw it into the crowd. Strowman blasted Zayn and knocked him to the floor. From there, Braun tried to run at Zayn against the ring post but Zayn moved away and Braun hit into it. Moments later, the same thing happened when Braun charged at Zayn near the timekeepers area and Braun crashed through it. He managed to get into the ring to beat a 10 count and then rushed at Zayn in the corner but Zayn moved away again. Zayn managed to connect on a Helluva Kick in the corner with under 10 seconds left and the bell eventually rang giving Zayn the win. Post-match, Foley helped Zayn upside on the outside and hugged him.

Seth Rollins defeated Chris Jericho via pinfall. After a back and forth match for some time, Rollins had control. Kevin Owens came rushing down the ramp and hopped up on the apron. The ref saw it and started to yell at him. Rollins went over to punch him. As Rollins turned back around, Jericho rolled him into a small package. The ref was still distracted by Owens on the apron and got to the count late so Rollins kicked out. Moments later, Jericho yelled at Owens to get out of there so Owens headed up the ramp and went backstage. In the match, Jericho went for a Codebreaker but Rollins caught him and hit the Pedigree for the win.

The commentary team took a look back at the pre-show match involving Big Cass vs. Rusev and announced a rematch scheduled for tomorrow night’s Raw.

Rich Swann defeated TJ Perkins via pinfall in a Triple Threat match to retain the Cruiserweight Championship. Late in the match, Kendrick went for his Sliced Bread No. 2 move but got dumped to the outside. Perkins got Swann in the knee bar but Swann managed to get to the ropes. Perkins let go of the hold. Moments later, Swann and Perkins traded punches. Kendrick got back in and got hit by a double superkick. Swann was able to catch Perkins with a kick move and then collected the winning pinfall. Post-match, Neville’s music hit and he came to the ring applauding for Swann’s win. Moments later, he attacked Swann. Perkins tried to break it up, but Neville kicked him down and hit a running kick before tossing Swann to the outside. He picked up Perkins and ran him into the barricade. Neville posed over both guys to end the post-match segment.

Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks 3-2 in a 30-minute Ironman match for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. It took about 20 minutes for the first fall but Charlotte was dominant during that time. She hit one Natural Selection but Sasha kept kicking out of pitfalls. Moments later, Charlotte got one from off the turnbuckle and that was good for the first pinfall to put Charlotte up 1-0 with about 10:30 minutes left. Sasha managed to come back with about eight minutes to go and rolled Charlotte into a small package to tie it at 1-1. With 6:30 to go, Sasha got a Banks Statement locked in and Charlotte tried to reach towards the bottom rope. Sasha readjusted the hold and pulled Charlotte towards

Towards the 4 minute mark Charlotte had Sasha’s leg twisted onto the rope in the corner and jumped on it to tweak Sasha’s knee. She kept attacking Sasha’s right leg as the clock was still running by yanking it against the ringpost.

Towards the final two minutes, Charlotte had kept attacking Sasha’s leg and locked a Figure Four on her. Sasha kept on fighting it, trying to reach the ropes. She was screaming in agony with about 30 seconds to go and looking towards the clock. Charlotte put it into the Figure Eight with 10 seconds left and Sasha tapped just before the clock ran out making it 2-2.

The match went to sudden death overtime with the next fall deciding the winner. Charlotte quickly attacked Sasha’s leg before the bell to start things. In the overtime session, Sasha nearly got a rollup pinfall but Charlotte kicked out. Moments later, Charlotte put another Figure Four on. Sasha was visibly bloodied on her face as she stretched for the ropes but couldn’t reach her hand to them. Charlotte pulled her into the ring more and put a Figure Eight on. Sasha eventually tapped out giving Charlotte the title win.

Kevin Owens defeated Roman Reigns due to disqualification to retain the WWE Universal Championship. Late in the match, Owens was irritated and left the ring to grab his championship belt. He rolled into the ring with it and the referee saw. He went over to stop him and try to grab the title away but Owens lunged towards Reigns. Reigns responded by hitting a huge Spear to take down Owens. However, Reigns seemed to be favoring his shoulder and couldn’t get over for a pin. Owens rolled towards the corner of the ring. Suddenly, the crowd went into a frenzy as Chris Jericho ran down the ramp. He went into the ring with the ref yelling at him. Jericho looked over at Reigns and Owens. As Owens got up, Jericho went over and hit him with the Codebreaker. The ref called for the bell. The official announcement was Owens won due to disqualification of Reigns and was still champion.

Post-match, Jericho and Owens hugged as the master plan had worked. Reigns saw it from the outside. Suddenly, Seth Rollins’ music hit and he rushed down to the ring. Owens tried to get away and caught a Spear from Reigns. Jericho went into the ring but so did Rollins and he hit the Pedigree on him. After that, Reigns and Rollins teamed up on the outside to Powerbomb Jericho through an announcers table. Owens ran up the ramp, but Rollins chased him down and attacked. Reigns came up to help. Eventually, they got the best of Owens and hit a big Powerbomb on the announcers table near the ramp to close out the show.
