WWE Raw Results 12/26/16 for Chicago, IL Episode

Welcome to the WWE Raw results for the Monday, December 26, 2016, episode. On the latest installment of the weekly episodic wrestling show the build towards January’s Royal Rumble continued. Also, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns would look to get some sort of revenge after Braun Strowman destroyed them last week on Raw. The latest episode of WWE Raw took place in Chicago, Illinois. Here are all the latest match results below.

Stephanie McMahon started off the show with holiday greetings for all the fans in attendance and those watching. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns both showed up with Stephanie trying to do a mock Shield fist bump in the ring. Rollins and Reigns weren’t having it. She announced Rollins will take on Braun Strowman later tonight on Raw.

Sheamus & Cesaro defeated New Day via pinfall to retain the WWE Raw tag team titles. Sheamus won the match via Brogue Kick. Post-match Cesaro was out of the ring so Sheamus celebrated with both belts. Cesaro went over and grabbed one away so he could raise it up.

There was a backstage segment featuring Braun Strowman walking down the hall. He walked up to Jericho and Owens who tried to make up some rumors about things they heard Rollins said about him. Braun told Jericho rumors are crap just like him. Owens interrupted and said that rumors really suck and who has time for them. Braun gave him a look then left while Jericho breathed a sigh of relief.

Bayley walked up to Goldust and R-Truth to give Goldust a special gift. It was a Bayley bear with a Dusty Rhodes shirt on in honor of the American Dream. Bayley hugged Goldust and left, but then Gallows and Anderson showed up. They mocked Goldust’s new bear and then grabbed it to rip the head off. They walked off laughing with Goldust and Truth upset.

Nia Jax destroyed an amateur competitor named Charlotte via pinfall. Charley Caruso interviewed her before the match to congratulate her on her debut. The match was a quick squash. Post-match, Jax made a statement with a big leg drop on the woman before exiting the ring and heading up the ramp.

Bayley came out to cut a promo about how she’s defeated Charlotte three times now and has earned the No. 1 contender spot. Charlotte came out to interrupt and taunted Bayley, calling her a child and a fake superstar. Charlotte questioned if Bayley really defeated her last week, showing video footage of how one of her shoulders was up before the three count. Charlotte said she talked to a lawyer who had Bayley’s victory last week expunged from the record books, meaning it never happened. Charlotte said she’d give her another shot but this time she was going to have a referee who calls it down the line. Dana Brooke’s music hit and she came to the ring dressed as the special referee.

Charlotte defeated Bayley via pinfall with Dana Brooke as special referee. Dana started out as referee and didn’t give Bayley the benefit of calls. She got knocked out of the ring and a substitute ref arrived to call the action. He tried to count what looked like a winning pinfall but Dana recovered to yank the other ref out of the ring. Bayley saw it and went after Dana outside the ring. Dana ran around a bit and then into the ring with Bayley following. She grabbed Dana in the corner to beat her up but Charlotte rolled up Bayley from behind. Dana made a quick pinfall count as Charlotte put her legs on the rope.

Backstage, Stephanie came up to Braun Strowman to ask what he was doing. He said he wants Sami Zayn tonight. She said he’s got Seth Rollins tonight. He said he wants Sami Zayn too. Stephanie said she’ll guarantee him Zayn next week. Strowman said that’s not good enough, he wants Zayn in a Last Man Standing match. Stephanie liked the idea and said sure. She told him to take out his aggression on Rollins tonight and look at him as if he was Zayn.

Neville defeated TJ Perkins via pinfall. Late in the match, Perkins had a scissors move attempt on Neville’s midsection. Neville shifted it into a pinfall and secured it by grabbing Perkins tights to get the win. Perkins tried to tell the ref afterward to no avail. Post-match, Charley Caruso interviewed Neville up on stage. He said soon the fans will have no choice but to appreciate him because he’s going to beat the champion on 205 Live tomorrow, Rich Swann.

They showed a video replay of Rusev and Jinder Mahal attacking Enzo Amore after last week’s sensitivity training class. Lana got a slap in afterward.

Big Cass and Enzo Amore came to the stage. Enzo was in a wheelchair and cut a promo about being attacked. He told Cass to step into the ring since his solo cup has runneth over. Cass talked about Rusev being a coward for attacking his friend Enzo after trapping him in a room alone. Cass called out Rusev. He arrived out with Lana and Cass thought he would get a one on one. Instead, Rusev brought out Jinder Mahal. They went down and circled the ring. Jinder slapped Enzo in the face, then got on one side of the ring on the apron. Rusev got on the other so they could doubleteam Cass. Enzo got out of his wheelchair and yanked Jinder off the apron by his leg. Rusev got in the ring to attack Cass, but Cass got the upper hand and knocked him out of the ring. On the outside, Jinder ran at Enzo near the ring post, but Enzo was able to put up a leg to kick him. Jinder fell into the wheelchair. Cass came to the outside and picked up Enzo then threw him at Jinder for the Rocket Launcher move.

There was a match ready to go involving Darren Young and his tag team partner against The Shining Stars. An angry Braun Strowman came out from backstage and grabbed a Christmas tree off the stage. He went down and destroyed all the competitors.

Seth Rollins vs. Braun Strowman – Strowman manhandled Rollins quite a bit throughout the match. Rollins started to get some offense in, including multiple jumping kicks off the corners. He hit a big DDT at one point to take down Strowman. He tried to do the Pedigree but Braun was too big and backdropped Rollins to the outside. Strowman went out and beat up Rollins a bit more then tossed him through the ropes. Moments later, Sami Zayn’s music hit and he surprised Braun at ringside. Zayn hit several moves and ran Strowman into the post multiple times. Strowman eventually shook it off and chased Zayn into the crowd. He chased him backstage leaving Rollins down in the ring. Chris Jericho arrived out and hit a big Codebreaker on Rollins to put him down. Referees helped Rollins to his feet as Jericho appeared to be leaving. Jericho went back over and hit another Codebreaker for good measure before leaving for good.

Backstage, Kevin Owens was watching what just happened on a monitor. Charley Caruso went up for an interview but Owens said he started tuning her out as soon as her mouth started making noise. He said he was very happy with what just happened out there. Jericho arrived back there and told Owens that now Reigns will be all alone for the title match later on. He said soon Owens will have both titles as the Chris and Kevin show runs things tonight.

Gallows and Anderson defeated R-Truth and Goldust

Rich Swann was walking backstage. He noticed Noam Dar talking to Dana Brooke. Noam gave him the signal to back off and Swann chuckled then kept walking.

Rich Swann defeated Airiya Daivari in a non-title match. Swann won with a spinning kick to the head to drop Daivari for the pinfall win. Post-match, Charley Caruso interviewed Swann about his latest win up on the ramp and talked about his title defense for tomorrow night’s 205 Live show against Neville. As he was praising Neville as one of the best in the business, Neville suddenly rushed out and attacked from behind. He beat up Swann down the ramp and put him in the ring. From there, Neville layed Swann down on his stomach, climbed to the top rope and hit the Red Arrow on him.

Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens to retain the US Championship. Reigns connected on a late Superman Punch and revved up for a Spear. Chris Jericho tried to get involved late, but Seth Rollins rushed out to attack him. Owens went to the outside to assist Jericho and hit a superkick on Rollins. As he got back in the ring, Reigns was still ready and caught him with the Spear for the pin. Post-match, Rollins got a Pedigree on Owens. Reigns hit a Spear on Jericho on the outside. Rollins and Reigns celebrated to close out the final Raw of 2016.
