Welcome to the WWE Raw results for Monday, July 31, 2017. The latest installment of Monday Night Raw was held at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Among the stories for the night was the big Triple Threat match involving Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns. Also, more buildup towards the various WWE SummerSlam 2017 pay-per-view matches. Here are the latest results and highlights.
The opening segment featured Raw GM Kurt Angle coming out to talk about SummerSlam being around the corner. He announced that Big Show will take on Big Cass tonight and Jason Jordan will be on MizTV. Angle also mentioned it was the 21st anniversary of when he won a gold medal. He said he won a gold medal with a broken neck. He praised the fans for being there through his ups and downs over the years. Before Angle could leave, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar came to the ring. Heyman talked about how Angle seems to be trying to get the title off Brock so he booked a four-way match. Heyman said if Lesnar loses the title at SummerSlam then he’ll leave WWE and Heyman will go with him. Heyman promised that Brock won’t lose the title, though.
Matt and Jeff Hardy defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson via pinfall. Anderson and Gallow went for their finisher late, but Jeff came in to break things up. Matt hit a Twist of Fate on Gallows. He tagged in Jeff who hit the Swanton Bomb for the win.
Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander, and Rich Swann defeated Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, and TJP via pinfall. The win came when Tozawa hit a Senton Bomb on TJP and scored the winning pin in under nine minutes.
The Miz hosted MizTV with his Miztourage and Maryse in ring. Jason Jordan was the guest. Miz tried to recruit him to the Miztourage to guide his career. Jordan said thanks but no thanks. Miz accused him of getting special treatment because of Kurt Angle being his dad. Eventually, Miz tried to take a cheap shot at Jordan who grabbed Miz for a belly-to-belly suplex to launch him into Axel and Dallas.
Seth Rollins defeated Sheamus via pinfall. Late in the match, Rollins hit a dive off the top onto Cesaro. Back in the ring, Rollins managed to score a rollup pinfall on Sheamus for the win. Post-match, the heels attacked Rollins for a beatdown. Ambrose tried to make a save but gut outnumbered. Cesaro hit a Neutralizer on him and moments later, Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick on him.
They had a Bray Wyatt in ring promo where he talked about Finn Balor being a putrid shell of a man he never was. Wyatt kept on talking and eventually did his crucifix pose in the ring. Finn’s music hit briefly and the lights went out. When they came on, Finn was standing in the ring with a crucifix pose with his back to Wyatt. Bray went to attack him but Balor turned and caught him with a kick. He sent him out of the ring and then kicked him over the barricade.
Roman Reigns defeated Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat match. The close saw Joe lock the Coquina Clutch on Reigns but Strowman broke it up. Strowman hit a powerslam on Joe for a near fall with Reigns breaking it up. Moments later, Strowman grabbed the piece of the ring steps that Joe had brought to the corner of the ring earlier. Reigns hit a Superman Punch on Strowman and knocked him to the floor with the steps. He hit a Spear on Joe for the pinfall.
Elias defeated Kalisto via pinfall. Elias Samson now goes by “Elias.” In this match, Kalisto eventually hit a huracanrana and planted him into the mat. Kalisto held his back, favoring it. Elias was able to make a comeback and hit the Drift Away neck breaker for the win.
Bayley defeated Nia Jax via countout. The match lasted nearly 10 minutes. Towards the end, Alexa Bliss showed up and tried to blindside Bayley but Bayley saw her and avoided the attack. Nia hit Bayley from behind and tried to hit her against the ring steps. Bayley avoided that and Jax crashed into the steps herself, causing a countout.
Big Cass defeated Big Show by disqualification. Enzo Amore was ringside for Big Show. Late in the match, Show grabbed Cass by his hair to pull him onto the apron. Back in the ring, Show slammed Cass and dropped an elbow for a near fall. Show set up for a chokeslam but Cass kicked him and then did a running knick to Show’s knee. He kept targeting the knee. Show made a comeback with a big clothesline and a splash in the corner. He ran into a big boot, though. Cass was waiting in the corner for his next move when Enzo attacked him from behind causing a DQ.
Post-match, Cass toss Enzo to the mat and started to taunt him. Big Show got up and Cass went at him only to get leveled by the knockout punch. Both Show and Cass fell to the mat. Show’s theme music played as Raw went off the air.
