WWE Night of Champions 2015 Kickoff Show:
Renee Young, Byron Saxton, Booker T and Corey Graves hosted the pre-show with the set outside the Toyota Center in front of a smaller wrestling ring set up. They broke down Seth Rollins having to fight twice in the same night and his chances. An interview backstage was shown with Sheamus who talked about how he’ll cash in on whoever wins the WWE World Heavyweight Title match tonight. He said the Sting-Rollins match winner will make “his-tory into my story.”
A backstage interview was shown with Kevin Owens after the hosts ran through a look at some of the all-time greats who held the Intercontinental Title. Owens told Eden that tonight isn’t about them but about the prize. He said he’s a prizefighter and winning the title brings him more money which he needs for his family. He interrupted Eden when she brought up Ryback and then walked in front of her camera shot as she tried to close out the interview.

Neville & Lucha Dragons vs. Stardust & The Ascension
Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler joined live from inside the arena and covered highlights of how this Kickoff Show match was set up recently. Early on, Neville and Lucha Dragons took control with Cosmic Wasteland on the outside as all three dove out to take down the heels.
Neville gained control late after Stardust missed on a flying cross body off the side ropes. Neville set up for a Red Arrow but one of The Ascension came in. Neville hit him away still seated on the ropes, but Stardust shoved him into Neville and then yanked him off the corner to hit his finisher for the win.
Winners: Stardust & The Ascension won via pinfall over Neville & Lucha Dragons.
Kevin Owens vs. Ryback (c) for Intercontinental Title
Ryback took control early coming off the side ropes for a shoulder block takedown before pressing Owens overhead and tossing him to the outside floor. Owens gained an advantage on the outside by hurting Ryback’s left shoulder/arm and then working on it in the ring. Ryback gained momentum late and had Owens up for Shellshocked but his hurt shoulder gave out. Owens tossed him shoulder first into the ringpost and had a near fall. Owens put on a hold to pull back Ryback’s hurt arm but the champ fought out and picked up Owens for a slam. He got Owens up for Shellshocked but Owens raked his eyes with the ref not seeing it. Owens did a rollup pinfall and got the count for the title win.
Winner: Kevin Owens won via pinfall over Ryback to become new Intercontinental Champion.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev (w/Summer Rae)
Ziggler showed up by himself without Lana. Late in the match, Summer Rae was leaning from the apron over the ropes to yell at the ref. The press got bumped and she was thrown in accidentally. The ref thought she was hurt and she kept screaming as she laid on the mat so he tossed her out of the match. Angrily, Summer tried to throw her shoe at the ref from the apron but it hit Rusev instead who turned and was hit by a finisher from Ziggler for the win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler won via pinfall over Rusev.
Dudley Boyz vs. New Day (c) for WWE Tag Team Titles
Early in the match, Kofi escaped to the outside as Big E and Woods came over to consult with him. Woods yelled for a time out, but the ref kept counting. Moments later, Bubba hit a huge superplex with Big E from the corner, then flipped Kofi over his back when he tagged in. Woods got on the side apron and Bubba tossed him to go after him but Kofi took advantage and dropkicked Bubba from behind. The heels kept Bubba isolated and away from a tag for a while. Eventually D-Von tagged in and was able to help Bubba connect on a 3-D. Xavier Woods rushed in and kicked Bubba on the pin with the ref calling for the bell. Lilian announced Dudleys won due to DQ but New Day keeps their titles.
Post-match, all three of New Day attacked the Dudleys in the ring. Kofi and E yelled for Woods to get the table. Woods grabbed it from under the ring and slid it in for E and Kofi to set up. Woods began to play trombone to the crowd and didn’t see the Dudleys get back up and clear the ring of E and Kofi. As Woods turned around, D-Von set him up for a 3-D with Bubba connecting to smash Woods through the table.
Winners: New Day won via pinfall over Dudley Boyz to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella (c) for Divas Championship
Paige and Becky Lynch joined Charlotte as she made her entrance. Nikki arrived out carrying the belt up high with Alicia Fox and Brie with her. Early on, Charlotte got tossed onto the apron but landed on her feet. Nikki fought with her and then rammed her to shove Charlotte off the apron to the floor. Charlotte appeared to tweak her knee after and was hobbled in the match after. Nikki kept attacking the knee. She hit a huge move off the corner to come down on Charlotte for a near fall then bent her leg back in a submission hold to try to make her tap.
Team BAD was shown watching the match backstage. Nikki slammed Charlotte’s leg against the mat several times, but on one attempt Charlotte blocked and punched Nikki to gain a bit of relief. Nikki went right back on the attack despite the crowd trying to rally Charlotte. Nikki kept up the torture of Charlotte’s leg, but when she went for a jump off the top rope, Charlotte did a spear to tackle her from the air. Moments later, Charlotte managed to fight through the pain to put Nikki into the Figure Eight, making her tap out for the submission win. Post-match, Paige and Becky celebrated in the ring with the new champion. Dad Ric Flair came down to the ring and cried tears of joy for his daughter’s win.
Winner: Charlotte wins via submission over Nikki Bella to become new Divas Champion.
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Chris Jericho vs. The Wyatt Family
The Wyatt Family made their dark entrance first. Dean Ambrose’s music hit and he was out next, followed by Reigns who came down from the crowd area. Bray Wyatt sat waiting in a corner staring over at Reigns and Ambrose who were there alone. Some random fan rushed in and was tackled down by security. Bray joked “that’s your guy, that’s who you got?” Moments later, Chris Jericho’s music hit and brought him back to the ring as Cole exclaimed “Holy Cow!”
Late in the match, Ambrose and Harper were on the outside and out of it. Reigns had control against Strowman. Jericho slapped Reigns’ back to tag in and hit the Walls of Jericho for a pinfall attempt. Strowman tossed Jericho off the pin as Bray Wyatt grabbed Reigns and fought with him on the outside.
In the ring, Strowman got Jericho on his shoulder, then slammed him face first on the mat. He put on a bear hug moments later and Jericho eventually faded out. The ref checked him and called for the bell giving The Wyatt Family the win.
Winners: The Wyatt Family won via submission over Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Chris Jericho.
John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (c) for United States Title
John Cena made his entrance first, followed by the champion Seth Rollins. Early after the bell, the “Let’s Go Cena” and “Cena Sucks” chants started things off as Rollins and Cena faced off. Cena blasted Rollins down with an early clothesline for the near fall and then threw him face first into the corner turnbuckle. Rollins came back with an elbow in the corner and a flying nackebreaker from off the corner.
Rollins stayed in control and later hit a double stomp on Cena’s chest in the corner. He would later try to mock Cena for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Cena got up and took him down with the shoulder tackle. Cena set up for the move but Rollins responded by kicking Cena from the mat and then delivering a takedown for a tearful. Rollins tried for a Pedigree after, but Cena countered it. Cena did the “You can’t see me” gesture and Rollins tried to kick him again but Cena stopped his leg. From there, he hit a sunset flip for a near fall. Cena went for an AA moments later, but Rollins snapped Cena neck-first against the top rope. He tried to go to the ropes but Cena punched him to stop any move. Rollins tried to run Cena over to throw him at the corner, but Cena countered with a hurricanrana to toss Rollins back first into the corner.
A bit later, Cena was seated up on the top rope for a move but Rollins leapt up there and connected on a big Superplex, then did a second vertical suplex for the quick near fall. Cole said “Rollins has been so impressive.” Rollins walked over towards Cena cockily and Cena tripped him down to put on the STF. Rollins crawled over to grab the bottom rope. Rollins was able to counter a Cena move and lifted Cena from the mat to toss him back-first into the corner turnbuckles.
Rollins was able to stand up carrying Cena and put him on his shoulders for an AA attempt. Cena got off his shoulders and managed to do a reverse suplex to plant Rollins on the mat. From there, he jumped off the corner to hit a leg drop on the back of Rollins’ head. He connected on an AA and grabbed the pinfall for the win. Cena is the new champion. Post-match, Cena went over and slapped hands with a kid at ringside. Rollins left the ring to grab his WWE championship belt and tried to leave, but Cena blocked his path to the ramp. Rollins tried to hit Cena and Cena responded with an AA on the floor. He tossed Rollins in the ring so he’d be there for Sting, then handed the championship belt to the ref.
Winner: John Cena won via pinfall over Seth Rollins to become new United States Champion.
Sting vs. Seth Rollins (c) for WWE World Heavyweight Title
After Cena had left, Sting made his entrance as Rollins was already down in the ring. Sting immediately went for the Scorpion Deathlock but Rollins quickly grabbed the bottom rope to break it. Things eventually spilled outside the ring where Sting kept control. Rollins tried to grab a TV monitor, but Sting headed him off and continued punishing Rollins before they returned to the ring. Sting threw Rollins corner to corner and Rollins felled to the outside floor. Sting was able to set up Rollins on the announce table but Rollins shoved him forward and Sting crashed through the Spanish announcers table instead. Cole said it seemed Sting’s head hit the TV monitor too.
Rollins grabbed his championship belt and prepare to leave up the ramp but stopped in his tracks and then went back after Sting. He slammed Sting down on the already collapsed announce table, then tossed him in the ring for a near fall. Rollins taunted Sting a bit in the ring before hitting a slam move for another near fall. The commentary team talked up Sting being an all-time great and mentioned all his title accomplishments, saying he hasn’t held the WWE title yet and this may be his last chance at it. Rollins grabbed Sting by the hair and taunted more but Sting punched back. Rollins hit the Buckle Bomb on Sting for yet another near fall.
Moments later, Rollins got tossed on the apron but landed on his feet. He got up on the side rope for a springboard attempt, but Sting was back on his feet and shoved Rollins off towards the barricade. Rollins got back in the ring and Sting started to chop away at him. Sting got riled up and hit several Stinger Splashed before clotheslining Rollins to the outside. From there, Sting climbed the corner and leapt off for a cross body to take down Rollins on the floor. A “You still got it” chant erupted from the crowd moments later. Back in the ring, he hit another Stinger Splash and climbed up for some punches but Rollins grabbed him and hit another Buckle Bomb. Rollins rushed at Sting for a clothesline and Sting ducked it then collapsed to the mat. The referee and a trainer had to check on him as Rollins played it up.
Sting staggered around a bit and the trainer eventually left the ring. Rollins kept laughing it off. Rollins tried to put him away with the Pedigree but Sting quickly countered and put him into the Deathlock. Rollins managed to grab the ropes again. Sting tried to pull Rollins off the ropes and Rollins landed then hit a lauriat kick to knock Sting down. Sting countered another Pedigree for a Deathlock, but Rollins countered that and put Sting into a small package pinfall for the win. Rollins rolled to the outside and clutched his championship belt near the announcers table.
Winner: Seth Rollins won via pinfall over Sting to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Title.
Post match: Back in the ring, Rollins pointed at Sting laughing as Sting was helped back stage. Suddenly, Sheamus’ music hit and he came storming down to the ring with briefcase in hand. Before the ref could make the cash-in official, Kane’s music hit and out came the Big Red Monster wearing his old school mask. Sheamus fled the ring frustrated as he watched Kane get in there and grab Rollins for the chokeslam. Sheamus slid back into the ring with the briefcase and told Kane to give him one more for good measure. Kane looked at Sheamus then grabbed his neck to hit another chokeslam, but on Sheamus. With both men down, Kane picked up Rollins and hit a Tombstone to lay him out more. The PPV ended with Kane’s music playing as he looks down at the fallen Rollins.
