With the latest WWE Raw results from Monday night from Tampa, Florida, two brand new matchups were set for the WWE Night of Champions 2015 match card. The matches will involve Nikki Bella’s Divas Championship and Seth Rollins’ United States Championship. Sting was already scheduled to face Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight title but now it has been announced that Rollins will put both titles on the line at Night of Champions. In addition, Nikki Bella will defend her Divas title after not putting it on the line at the last several pay-per-view events.
For Rollins, the big news arrived at the end of the Raw episode. He had come to the ring to call out Sting for earlier comments which Sting made to say HHH is a better wrestler than Rollins ever will be. In addition, Rollins wanted Sting to return the statue that The Authority had made for him to go at WWE headquarters. Instead of Sting, Stephanie McMahon came to the ring to tell Rollins to stop talking about her husband. Rollins got fired up and then called out Sting again, but instead, John Cena arrived to the ring. Ultimately, Cena reminded Rollins that all championships are on the line at Night of Champions, meaning the United States title as well. Cena said he was cashing in his rematch clause for the U.S. title and Stephanie McMahon confirmed that the match will indeed happen: John Cena vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE United States Championship.
Earlier in Raw, there was a Divas “Beat the Clock” Challenge featuring all three members of PCB in action. Becky Lynch set the first time to beat after she defeated Alicia Fox via submission. However, Charlotte soon eclipsed that time, defeating Nikki Bella via pinfall in 1:40. That left Paige to try to beat that time against Sasha Banks later in the show. Paige hit a finisher on her, but Sasha was pulled out of the ring by Tamina and Naomi. By the time Paige got her back in the ring to put a submission on, the time had expired. That left Charlotte as the Beat the Clock winner and she will face Nikki Bella at Night of Champions for the Divas Championship.
Of note, Nikki Bella also revealed the “Bellatron,” a large countdown graphic on the Jumbotron which revealed she has just over 14 days until she is the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion in the history of the pro wrestling organization. She will officially beat former champion AJ Lee’s record at that time.
