Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison match to retain the WWE World Championship. The ring announcer explained that the only way to win the match would be to escape the inner cage with four doors and the outer cage with no doors before your opponent. The inner doors would be attended by referees and would be held open for 60 seconds. They would shut forever if nobody could get through in that time. Both competitors were introduced and the ref called for the bell to start the match.

The two superstars battled inside the ring for quite some time. Three of the doors ended up being closed for good. The fourth was raised and the 60-second countdown began. Jinder went for his move on Orton but Randy surprised him with the RKO. The Singh Brothers appeared from underneath the ring near the fourth door and pulled Mahal to the outside. Orton recovered and tried to make it through the door but was too late as it was closed for good. On the outside, The Singh Brothers helped Mahal get to his feet. Meanwhile, Orton had to climb from inside the locked cage and over it. Mahal was nearing the top of the other outer cage. Orton managed to jump over to that outer cage and battled with Jinder. Orton fought off Jinder and he dropped to the floor. However, The Singh Brothers climbed up and each grabbed one of Orton’s legs to pull him off the wall to the ground. They gave Orton the beatdown to help out Mahal.

However, The Singh Brothers climbed up and each grabbed one of Orton’s legs to pull him off the wall to the ground. They gave Orton the beatdown to help out Mahal.

Later on in the match, Orton took control after using a Kendo Stick against Jinder. Orton made the climb up the wall, but one of the Singh Brothers climbed out through one of the prison wall holes. He climbed up the other side of the outer wall and grabbed Orton through the prison to keep him from moving up. Orton fought back, punching at him several times. Eventually, a final punch dropped the Singh brother off the wall and he crashed down through one of the announcers’ tables. Jinder and Orton fought on the outside with Orton eventually able to hit his draping DDT with one of Jinder’s legs stuck in the cage wall.

Orton managed to knock Mahal down to the floor. With Jinder down, Orton made the climb up the wall and looked like he was ready to get the win. Suddenly, Jinder’s music started to play again. Orton looked surprised by it. As he looked up the stage he saw The Great Khali emerge from backstage and come walking down the ramp. Khali got to the outer cage wall and began to shake it with Orton on it. Orton started to descend the inner part of the wall. Khali grabbed him through the cage with both hands to start choking out Orton. As he was doing so, Jinder had got back up and climbed up the inner cage wall. He got over the other side and started to climb down. He paused to look at Orton and smirked before finishing his descent to the floor. The bell rang and Jinder was announced as winner.

Post-match, Orton recovered from the chokehold inside the cage on the floor. On the ramp, Khali held up Jinder’s arm with the belt several times to celebrate as Battleground went off the air.
