Welcome to WWE Smackdown results for the May 19, 2016 episode of the weekly professional wrestling TV show. This week’s show was held live on Tuesday night in Greenville, South Carolina and televised on Thursday night on the USA Network. Among the superstars and divas appearing on the show were Paige, Dana Brooke, Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Miz, Sami Zayn, AJ Styles and Roman Reigns. Below are all the latest WWE Smackdown results with match-by-match recaps for the latest show.
Kevin Owens defeated Cesaro via pinfall. The Miz (with Maryse) and Sami Zayn were at ringside for the match. At one point, Owens punched Zayn at ringside. Cesaro hit a somersault senton bomb on Owens and hit Miz. Cesaro then followed with a springboard uppercut and went for a Cesaro Swing but Miz distracted him so Owens got a Super kick for two. Moments later, Zayn went after Owens, but Cesaro punched him. Owens took advantage and rolled up Cesaro for the win. Post-match, Zayn hit a Helluva Kick on Cesaro and then Miz hit Skullcrushing Finale on Zayn. Owens fled the ring and had a staredown with Miz.
Dana Brooke defeated Paige via pinfall. Becky Lynch was on guest commentary. Paige got in some early offense and again made a comeback late with several kicks on Brooke. However, Brooke turned things in her favor and hit a Samoan Driver on Paige to get the pin.
Dolph Ziggler defeated Sheamus via pinfall. Sheamus missed on a Brogue Kick late and Ziggler hit the Fameasser for a two count. Moments later, Sheamus hit an Irish Curse, but Ziggler kicked out before three. Sheamus hit another big move, but Ziggler got back up and delivered a superkick to level Sheamus for the pinfall. Post-match, Baron Corbin arrives out to tell Ziggler he’s going to “end him” at Extreme Rules and No DQ means nobody can stop it.
Chris Jericho came out to cut a promo about Dean Ambrose and his match against him at Extreme Rules on Sunday. Jericho boasts about having fought in every kind of match and says he’s got the advantage in this one due to being smarter than Ambrose. He says he sent Ambrose to the hospital after attacking him with a potted plant, so he wants a better look at what weapons the “Asylum” has with it. The “Asylum” cage was lowered down from the ceiling with Jericho still in the ring. A nearby WWE worker got into the ring and revealed that he was Dean Ambrose disguised. Ambrose attacked Jericho using a Kendo stick but Jericho managed to rush out the cage door to get away.
Big Cass & New Day defeated The Vaudevillians & The Dudley Boyz via pinfall. The Vaudevillians kept Xavier Woods isolated from his other teammates for quite a while. He eventually escaped to make a hot tag to Big Cass. Cass got in and started dominating. Big E came in and suplexed others out of the ring and then tossed Kofi out onto Aiden English. In the ring, Big Cass connected with an Empire Elbow on Bubba for the win.
Roman Reigns vs. Luke Gallows ended in a disqualification. The Usos, AJ Styles and Karl Anderson were all ringside for the match and kept taunting each other. Eventually they all got into a huge brawl. The referees broke it up, leaving Reigns and Styles alone in the ring. They each grabbed steel chairs and swung at the same time, but AJ dropped his. AJ delivered a big Pele kick and chair shot to Reigns’ back to knock him out of the ring. Styles was shown standing tall as Smackdown ended.
