Welcome to the WWE Money in the Bank 2016 results for the first part of tonight’s pay-per-view event. The latest pro wrestling spectacle arrives from Las Vegas, Nevada’s T-Mobile Arena and features a total of 10 matches across a Kickoff pre-show and the main pay-per-view card. Among the featured bouts are the six-man Money in the Bank ladder match, John Cena vs. AJ Styles and Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight title. Below are the match-by-match results for the first part of tonight’s event including the two free pre-show matches and matches from the first part of the main PPV!
MITB Kickoff Show Results:
The Kickoff show panel consisted of Renee Young, Booker T, Lita and Corey Graves. They gave their thoughts and predictions on each of the big matches of the night as well as the two matches on the pre-show. Various highlight packages for the matches were shown. Tom Philipps was backstage in the social media lounge for several interviews including one with tonight’s tag team of Becky Lynch and Natalya.
The Golden Truth defeated Breezango via pinfall. Late in the match, Breeze and Fandango tried to whip Goldust to the ropes. He ducked their move and they hit the ropes with Truth yanking Breeze to the outside. Goldust grabbed Fandango for a spinning move to plant him onto the mat for the winning pin.
The Lucha Dragons defeated Dudley Boyz via pinfall. Towards the end of the bout, D-Von got dumped over the top rope as one of Lucha Dragons ducked his move near the ropes. He did a roll move to escape a charging Bubba and then hit Salida Del Sol on him before tagging in his partner for the Swanton to get the pinfall win.
WWE Money in the Bank Results:
New Day won the Fatal Fourway Tag Team Championship Match via pinfall. – Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. The Vaudevillains vs. Gallows & Anderson vs. New Day (c) – The close saw all of the teams get involved. Gallows and Anderson looked ready to win it after knocking down Woods off the apron and then hitting a double team move on one of the Vaudevillians. They had the pinfall, but Big E got in to break it up. Big Cass rushed in with a big boot to take himself and Gallows out of the ring. Kofi and Big E hit a double team on Anderson, and then Kofi pinned the Vaudevillian who’d been played out on the mat already. New Day danced in the ring with the belts to celebrate the win as the other teams recovered.
Tom Phillips started backstage with an interview with Kevin Owens. Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio got involved and they all got involved a verbal spat with each other. It ended with Jericho telling them how he’d win and they could all “drink it in.” Owens said he’d stick to water. Jericho closed his eyes to soak in the moment then opened his eyes to find nobody there with him but Phillips. He put the mic to Jericho who gave his “stupid idiots” line.
Baron Corbin defeated Dolph Ziggler via pinfall. Late in the match, Corbin dropped Dolph face-first onto the corner turnbuckle. Ziggler avoided a charging Corbin in the corner and then came back with a Fameasser for the near fall. Things went to the outside where Corbin caught Ziggler on a move and then hit a spinning sidewalk slam on the floor. Back in the ring, Ziggler escaped End of Days and hit a Superkick but Corbin again got his arm up at the last moment. Things went to the corner rope where Corbin managed to trip up Ziggler causing him to fall. From there, Corbin hit the End of Days for the win.
