WWE superstar John Cena is reportedly leaving WWE for some time off. The current United States Champion is going to take time off due to “personal reasons,” and won’t be taking part in the European tour scheduled for November. He will compete at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view which is set to take place on Oct. 25, 2015, but as of now his opponent has yet to be named. It’s also unknown when exactly John Cena is returning to WWE, whether it could be 2015 or early 2016.
The Cageside Seats website reported that Cena is taking about two months off due to “personal reasons” at this point. There’s nothing beyond that being reported at the moment. Cena is scheduled for a United States title defense against Seth Rollins tomorrow night at the WWE Network Live from Madison Square Garden special. It’s unknown what the plan is for his championship, but speculation seems to be high now that he’ll drop the title at the pay-per-view or on an episode of Raw towards the end of the month.
The European tour which begins in November includes a 10-day trip spanning the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany and Ireland. The WWE posted a statement via their official website saying:
“John Cena will not be appearing as part of WWE’s European tour this November due to personal reasons.”
The current expectation by many is that Cena may return by the 2016 Royal Rumble. However, speculation will change based on his title situation. Some analysts believe if Cena loses the title later this month, he’ll be out for an extended time off from the company. So it seems fans will get to see him at least for the remainder of the month right now, but after that it’s anyone’s guess when he is officially going to be back.
