Just moments after the dramatic conclusion of the WWE Raw results on Aug. 24, Triple H appeared in an exclusive interview on WWE Network. The Game went live to discuss what went down in the finale of Raw where Sting showed up in place of the statue that was supposed to be dedicated to Seth Rollins. Everyone was surprised, including The Authority and the dual-champion Rollins. Sting ended up attacking the champ and tossing him out of the ring. The show closed with Sting holding up the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt and pointing out at Rollins. It seemed he was calling him out for a title shot and that’s just what he’s getting. This all went down moments after Rollins’ SummerSlam competitor, John Cena, had been tossed out of the building by The Authority. Triple H and Stephanie didn’t want Cena interfering in their celebration of Seth Rollins as he received his bronze statue in the ring. Of course Cena had just hit an Attitude Adjustment on Jon Stewart after the actor/comedian told Ric Flair in the ring that he attacked Cena to preserve Flair’s legacy. With Cena out of the building, the night looked perfect for Rollins’ victory celebration.
However, Sting showed up to crash the party as mentioned. That led to a WWE Network exclusive interview with Triple H. During the talk, HHH announced that “The Icon” Sting will go one-on-one against Rollins at the WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Sting has never held the prized belt and made his first appearance in a WWE ring since his defeat at the hands of Triple H during WrestleMania 31. The epic match will take place on Sunday, Sept. 20 on the WWE Network during Night of Champions. There’s no word yet on what will happen with the United States Championship or John Cena in terms of a rematch for his title.
