Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins for SummerSlam 2016

Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins will take place at the 2016 WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view in August. The huge matchup was set during the Monday, July 25 episode of RAW which featured the announcement of a brand new championship. That new title was revealed to be the “WWE Universal Championship” and featured two Fatal Fourway matches on RAW with the winners fighting in a singles match. The winner of that match would get to go on to fight No. 1 draft pick Seth Rollins for the new championship at SummerSlam. The opening Fatal Fourway match featured Finn Balor, Cesaro, Kevin Owens and Rusev. Balor was able to win the match with his finishing move Coup de Grace on Rusev. That would send him to the main event match later against the winner of the second Fatal Fourway.

The other Fourway match featured Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn. Reigns got the win here after hitting a Big Spear on Chris Jericho to take him down for the pin. The commentators suggested that Reigns was on his “road to redemption” following the win.

In the Raw main event (see full results), Balor battled Reigns in an epic match. There were numerous near falls with Reigns hitting several trademark moves and Balor also getting his moves in such as Slingblade. The big finish saw Reigns go for the Spear but Balor countered it and dropkicked Reigns into the corner. From there, he followed with Coup de Grace and scored the pin on Reigns. Post-match, Reigns praised Balor for the win and said he wants to see Balor beat Rollins so he can have another shot at him.

With that Balor will now go on to next month’s SummerSlam 2016 pay-per-view to face former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. The winner will be crowned the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. This match joins one other match that’s been on the card so far as Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar will also clash in the ring.

The match is now set. Who will win the new WWE Universal Championship in Brooklyn, New York?
