The WWE Extreme Rules 2016 matches will take place on Sunday, May 22 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It will feature multiple championship matches and several matches contested under “extreme” rules. That means the use of foreign objects is allowed in many matches, such as the Extreme Rules match, or the steel cage match that will take place. There’s other stipulations as well so let’s check out the latest on what to expect including our Extreme Rules 2016 predictions!
On the Extreme Rules Kickoff Show, Dolph Ziggler takes on Baron Corbin in a no disqualification match. Last time these guys met, Ziggler grabbed a win, so the best guess here is this one goes in favor of Corbin, especially with a No disqualification stipulation.
Extreme Rules Match Predictions:
Now to the main show, let’s give some predictions and thoughts on Sunday’s title matches.
Will Ambrose make it two-straight over Chris Jericho? He won at Payback against Jericho but now he’s going into a cage match with various weapons hanging around. It seems this might be the match that Y2J takes before they have their rubber match at the next pay-per-view.
Rusev is listed as the favorite to win in his United States championship match against the champion Kalisto. He’s got a price of -260 on the money line while the champ is actually a +180 underdog.
In the women’s championship match, Charlotte will have to defend her title without her dad Ric Flair at ringside. Charlotte seems to be a strong favorite to retain the championship and that seems like the strongest pick here. Possibly Nikki Bella makes her return by Summerslam to go after the champ.
The match where it seems there is the most potential for a title change would have to be the Fatal Fourway for the Intercontinental title. It features Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Sami Zayn and current champion The Miz. We’re leaning towards Zayn or Cesaro leaving as champ, with Cesaro looking like he could grab the title here.
Could The Vaudevillians become the new tag team champions? It seems the potential is there based on the fact Enzo Amore got hurt. That would possibly allow Vaudevillians to have the tag titles for a while until Amore makes his return and teams up with his partner Big Cass to go after Vaudevillians. 5Dimes has Vaudevillians listed as +250 underdogs, but they seem like strong possibilities to shake up the tag division with a win as top heels.
AJ Styles and Roman Reigns face off in the Extreme Rules and it won’t be surprising to see Gallows and Anderson and The Usos get involved. However, it seems like Reigns is going to continue as champion until the return of John Cena and/or Seth Rollins. So expect Reigns to walk out with the WWE World Heavyweight title.
Latest Extreme Rules Odds:
Reigns -600 over AJ Styles +400
New Day -350 over Vaudevillians +250
Charlotte -840 over Natalya +480
Rusev -260 over Kalisto +180
The Miz +120 vs. Cesaro +140 vs. Kevin Owens +500 vs. Sami Zayn +800
