We’re almost a week away from the WWE SummerSlam 2015 pay-per-view event which will be live from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Several online sports book sites are offering a glimpse at SummerSlam odds on who will win the big matches. While not all matches are available yet, many of the biggest bouts on the card are available including Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker and John Cena vs. Seth Rollins. Let’s take a look at what some of the odds might tell us in terms of potential spoilers for the winners.
There’s two huge matches on the card so far with the rematch of Undertaker against Brock Lesnar and John Cena vs. Seth Rollins in a title versus title match. The Paddy Power site currently lists out odds for these matches with Undertaker a 4 to 9 (-225) favorite to win it, and Brock Lesnar a +163 underdog in the match. These two last met at last year’s WrestleMania event with Brock Lesnar making history when he broke “The Streak” of wins that Taker had set over the course of his career. Now it appears time for some revenge?
In the other huge match, John Cena puts the United States title on the line against Seth Rollins who will put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Right now, Rollins is listed at 4/9 and Cena at 13/8. That makes Rollins the favorite at -225 and John Cena a +163 underdog to win. Keep in mind there are no rules in place yet as far as disqualifications, countouts, or of course the dreaded non-finish. In an interesting add-on here, they also have Sheamus listed at 4/6 for “No” to cash in the Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam, and 11/10 for “Yes” he will cash in.
A few other matches are currently listed as well. For example, The Prime Time Players are 6/5 favorites to retain the tag titles in the Fatal Fourway Match. New Day is second favorite at 15 to 8. Ryback is the favorite to retain in his Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship defense against Big Show and The Miz. Also listed are Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at 2 to 5 odds to defeat Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper at 7 to 5 odds. Actor Stephen Arnell, who makes his wrestling debut and will team up with Neville, sees his team favored at 1 to 7 odds against Stardust and King Barrett at 4 to 1 to win.
Could there be some upsets tossed in here or there? Of course, for example if there’s a draw or Cena wins due to disqualification in his title vs. title match, that could potentially give a few. For now, these odds seem about right heading into the biggest pro wrestling pay-per-view of the Summer.
So do you agree with this year’s possible SummerSlam winners? Will Rollins or Cena leave with both titles? Will Sheamus cash in at the PPV? Will Undertaker get his revenge? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
